‘The girl is running. She’s alone; a werewolf without a pack, a shape-changer who cannot change, an intruder in Roanoke’s territory. It’s Andrew Dare’s job to catch her, expel her, or kill her. He’s the enforcer, after all, in charge of security.
But when he catches her at last, he finds someone he wants to protect, not kill. A tortured stranger who needs him… And who warns of a threat to all the packs of North America.’
The blurb you could say is captivating, enthralling, and it certainly lives up to expectations. But what I didn’t expect was to be thrown head first into a world I didn’t understand. Rhiannon Held builds that world in a way so unimaginable that I didn’t know I was learning until the end of the book. Her writing style isn’t easy to get into but if you stick with it you will be rewarded with reading what I must say is one of the best books I have ever read!
From pack-life to general werewolf society, this look into the supernatural isn’t a ‘normal’ one. As it is set in America with the werewolf secret not yet out in society you would expect to see the werewolves integrating, pretending to be like us, but throughout the book we only come across one human who is actually privy to the deadly knowledge that werewolves actually exist.
The characters each have their own story within this epic tale including forbidden love, teenage struggles and heartbreak. All the stories are as intricate as the next and their threads evolve into one huge secret that Held keeps from us until the end of the book.

I love you and I’ll see you in my next one
